Welcome Roadrunner parents and students to the 2023-24 school year!  I am proud and excited to be able to begin serving the students, staff, parents, and community members of Shaffer Elementary School.  The Shaffer staff is dedicated to the success of all of our students academically, technologically, and socially in order to best prepare them for their future lives in our great community.

Immediately apparent when you step foot on our campus is the culture and rich tradition that Shaffer offers our community.  This culture is both one of academic excellence and of strong moral character.  Students demonstrate the components of “The Roadrunner Way” on a daily basis including respecting one another, practicing responsibility for oneself, and an emphasis on being ready to learn.

Staff expectations are high for both themselves and for our students.  Staff members are committed to providing instructional excellence as they explore Common Core State Standards in order to ensure that we develop students who possess the literacy and critical thinking skills necessary to master the standards of each grade level.  Staff expectations of our Shaffer students include a commitment to their education as evidenced by assignment completion, regular attendance, development of respect for and love of learning, and a sense of pride in their accomplishments.  

I am excited for the coming school year.  As a former student and teacher at Shaffer Elementary, and now the principal, I am committed to the success of our Shaffer students and the community as a whole. I ask that parents and community members partner with us to continue to mold our students to become lifelong learners and assist us in creating our future leaders of Atwater and beyond.
